F3
Defrost Return Abnormal
Description
In Daewoo refrigerator service manuals (side-by-side FRS-U20DD and FRS-T24FA, and the FD/SD commercial series) F3 means "Return after defrosting: abnormal or defective" — the defrost cycle did not finish normally. The FD-series manual gives the exact condition: the defrost sensor did not reach 50 °F (10 °C) within 40 minutes of defrosting. It is not a compressor code.

Additional Troubleshooting
1. Check the evaporator area in the freezer for a heavy build-up of ice — it is the visible sign of defrosting that does not complete.
2. Unplug the refrigerator for a few minutes and plug it back in to see whether the code clears.
3. If F3 returns, call a service technician: the defrost heater, the defrost sensor or its wiring has to be tested.
