Water Supply Fault

Description

E18 means the dishwasher is not getting enough water: the supply is cut off, or the water pressure is too low. Bosch describes it as a problem with water flow into the dishwasher, where the water level stays too low. The most common reasons are a closed tap, a kinked inlet hose, a blocked filter in the hose connection or the AquaStop hose, or low pressure from the tap.

Possible Causes

The water tap is closed, or the water supply to the house is cut off
The inlet hose is kinked, pinched or damaged
The filter in the water connection of the inlet hose or the AquaStop hose is blocked
The tap is clogged with limescale or iron deposits, so the pressure is too low (less than about 10 litres per minute from a fully open tap)
An internal fault: the water level sensor or the control module (a job for a technician)

Additional Troubleshooting

1. Check that the water tap is fully open and that the water supply is on.
2. Unplug the dishwasher and check the inlet and outlet hoses behind it. Straighten any kinks or pinched sections.
3. Turn off the tap, disconnect the inlet hose over a bucket, turn the water on briefly and check the flow. About 10 litres should run out per minute; then turn the tap off again.
4. Clean the filter in the hose connection with a small brush or rinse it under running water. On models without AquaStop, pull the hose off at the back of the appliance and take the filter out with pliers.
5. Reconnect the hose, open the tap, check for leaks and plug the dishwasher back in.
6. If the flow from the tap stays below about 10 litres per minute, call a plumber.
7. If the pressure is fine and E18 comes back, book a visit from Bosch service: the fault may be in the water level sensor or the control module.
