E20
Heat Pump Internal Heater Fault
Description
On Bosch dishwashers, E20 means a fault in the heater inside the heat pump, the unit that circulates the wash water and heats it. Bosch treats it as an electrical fault the user cannot fix: reset the power once, and if the code stays, call service.
Appliance Error Codes Details
Possible Causes
- A fault in the heater built into the dishwasher's heat pump (the circulation pump with integrated heater)
- A fault in the dishwasher's electronics, which only a technician can diagnose
Additional Troubleshooting
1. Switch the dishwasher off at the circuit breaker.
2. Wait at least 30 seconds, then switch the power back on.
3. Run a short programme with the dishwasher empty to check whether the code has cleared.
4. If E20 comes back, do not keep restarting the machine, and do not try to take the pump apart yourself.
5. Call Bosch customer service or an authorised service centre and give them the exact code.
