TF
French Southern Territories
Description
The French Southern and Antarctic Territories (Terres australes et antarctiques françaises) are a French overseas territory comprising several subantarctic island groups, including Kerguelen, Crozet, and Amsterdam and Saint-Paul, as well as Adélie Land on the Antarctic continent. The territory is administered from Réunion and has no permanent civilian population, hosting only rotating staff of scientific and meteorological research stations. It plays an important role in Southern Ocean environmental and wildlife research. The ISO 3166-1 codes for the French Southern Territories (alpha-2 TF, alpha-3 ATF, numeric 260) are used to designate the territory in international data systems.
