Turks and Caicos Islands
Description
The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory made up of two island groups in the Atlantic Ocean, southeast of the Bahamas. Its capital is Cockburn Town, on Grand Turk, a historic settlement that grew around the salt-raking industry. The territory is known today for its coral reefs and upscale beach tourism, particularly around Providenciales. Its ISO 3166-1 codes (alpha-2 TC, alpha-3 TCA, numeric 796) are used in banking, statistics, and travel documentation.
