Description
South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the remote South Atlantic Ocean, known for dramatic mountainous terrain, glaciers, and large populations of seals and penguins. The territory has no permanent civilian population; it is home only to a small number of government officers, scientists, and support staff, including personnel of the British Antarctic Survey.
